LESBOS. Uncertain mint. Circa 478-460 BC. 1/8 Stater (Silver, 13 mm, 1.86 g). IBI-B (?) Head of two confronted boars. Rev. Incuse square divided into four compartments; pellet in one quarter. CNG 94 (2013), 482. HGC 6, 1080 corr. (not BMC Troas p. 173, 1). SNG von Aulock 7745 var. (rough quadripartite incuse square). Very rare. Nearly extremely fine.

From a European collection, formed before 2005.

This issue must have been struck somewhat later than the previous lot 260 above, from which it differs by having a regular incuse square on the reverse with a pellet in one of the compartments.
